Hi, everybody! I am so excited to show you this really great, but way unexpected project on how I turned my ceiling fan lights into vases.
I was sitting in my kitchen one day working on my computer (because it is kinda my office also) and I happened to look out onto my lanai and noticed our old ceiling fans sitting there.
We had just finished our lanai ceiling upgrade and had replaced these old, worn-out fans with new ones. I got our new fans here if you are interested in seeing them. I love them a TON!
Anyways, back to my story. while looking at these old fans just sitting there, I spotted the glass globe lights. I never really noticed them before because they were old and dirty and so out of date.
This is how they looked when attached to the fan.
I started thinking, what if I turn them upside down, find a piece of acrylic to glue to the bottom, and turn it into a vase?!
Sounds good, but where do you find acrylic circles that are 3 inches in diameter? …hmmm …AMAZON of course!
So, down the rabbit hole I go into the land of Amazon to see what I could find. In no time at all, I found these.
I have no idea what I am going to do with 20 of them. That is a project for another day. Sweet!
Make sure the adhesive you use is 100% waterproof. I used this one.
Let the glue dry for about an hour before moving onto the next step.
This Sea Glass Sea Foam paint from Krylon is my favorite to use on glass projects! This particular color goes with just about everything in my home! Yay!
Stuff the inside of your globe to help cushion it during painting. This will also keep it from moving around and possibly falling off of the prop.
Speaking of propping, this is what I used to prop the globe up on for painting.
You will need something to hold onto or to prop the globe up off the ground while painting.
This spray can is the perfect height for spraying. I love that it was a found object and that I did not have to buy something for this part. 😉
Now, sometimes I spray my projects in the grass and sometimes I pick it up. Due to the curvature of this piece I did pick it up to paint.

Now, this next picture doesn’t really capture just how beautiful the green looks next to the unfinished piece. It really is quite beautiful.
