Hi there and welcome to my blog! If you are just joining, I am Danielle of DaniLou Designs.
I am the designer, writer, and diy’er behind this blog.
Decorating my home for practically nothing by doing most of the work myself is something I enjoy.
Also, I like to find new and imaginative ways to make my home beautiful by watching for killer sales.
I find humor almost anywhere and can laugh at myself through it all.
One thing I know is that most projects don’t go exactly as intended, but can be more beautiful than the original plan.
I have been designing and dreaming up fabulous interior spaces since I was a little girl.
I remember the first time my mother let me “design” my bedroom. It was the 70s and I was crazy for gingham…blue gingham to be exact!
I had blue gingham wallpaper and blue carpeting to match! How awful it must have been for my mother to hang that wallpaper.
She was always one to do the work herself when it came to our home.
I guess I inherited it from her because I cringe whenever I think of someone else working on my house.
It is smarter to let the professionals do major stuff such as electrical or plumbing, but if you can YouTube it, you can do the rest of the work yourself right?!
I have lived and learned quite a bit over the years. Enough to pass the savings on to anyone interested.
My husband and I have been married for 23+ years and we have been working on our homes (first from Ohio and now in sunny Florida) ever since.
I am self-taught and always learning new ways to make my surroundings beautiful.
