Upgrading a home can get pretty pricey. Today, I would like to share with you some inexpensive bathroom fixes for little $$. Hopefully I can inspire you by showing you many ways to make your home beautiful without a lot of money!
Heard that before? Yeah me too. So, I decided to write down all the things I would like to fix, add to or improve on throughout my home.
Here at Im2diy, we believe in home. It is so much more than a place to sleep. It is a refuge from the world to rest and regroup.
As I made my way around each room, I wrote down what I would like to see done. I did not think of only bare minimum items. I wrote EVERYTHING I wanted to see changed. Then I sat down and researched what I could do on my own to make the space more beautiful.
Ready?
First up: The Bathrooms
These are the things that I plan on doing in my bathrooms. Now I know that it will take quite a while before I get to where I want to be on all of these things. Money is tight everywhere and many of us are without jobs right now. That being said, here is my “to do” hopefully soon list for my bathrooms!

Change Salmon Pink Tub and Tile
I have been reading about this great “Tub & Tile Refinishing Kit” from Rust-oleum. I was pretty skeptical at first, but the reviews have been amazing, even after 3 years of use! I know that I would love to change the salmon pink tub and tile in both of our bathrooms. I would also like to try this on our pink bathroom sinks! The kit is under $25 and it will cover 110 sq. feet.
Paint Pink-ish Gray Countertops
One thing I did upgrade was my pink-ish gray bathroom countertops. Now they are white and look like actual marble. See how I did that here.
I had been reading about a product called Giani countertop acrylic paint kits. It claims to be low VOC and low odor so you won’t choke to death using it. It is also a water-based product so clean up is easy-peasy. It claims to cover “16 linear feet of standard 24-inch-wide countertops” and comes in 5 colors. Cost for this kit is just under $80. Way under the cost of new countertops! You could also use this product in the kitchen to cover burns and stains! Win-win!
Wallpaper Master Bathroom Alcove
Next, I would really like to wallpaper the alcove that my master bath tub sits in. There are many peel and stick wallpaper patterns out there. If I change my mind later, I can just peel it off the wall without the usual struggle of removing wallpaper. I can also use remnant pieces for the insides of my bathroom drawers. In fact, this project I might actually do first. Since it is a much smaller area, it will be a huge impact for little money! It’s less than $35 a roll!
Replace Single Shower Curtain with Two
Have you seen the double shower curtain craze that is going on right now?! I have been seeing two curtains instead of one and it looks beautiful! Something so simple and I didn’t think of it! UGH
Paint Bathroom Cabinets
Speaking of which, painting the bathroom cabinets is another upgrade you can do for less money. Just make sure that it is the right paint for the job. For instance, my cupboards are Formica, so I need a paint specifically for that surface as well as a paint for high moisture (bathroom) areas. They have paint for EVERYTHING anymore!
Build Beadboard Tub Surround
Lastly, now if you or someone you know (and trust) is handy enough, building a cute little tub surround from PVC beadboard would be a great addition to any bathroom, especially if you are trending the farmhouse style. I have seen this done and it is stunning. The cost is low because you are only framing one side of the tub. 😉
I hope this inspires you to try a few of these bathroom fixes for little $$.
I am excited to read your ideas on furnishing a beautiful home for the life you desire. I look forward to this journey with you! It has been a long time coming!
