Learn how to create gorgeous farmhouse style windows from boring, standard window trim.
Here in Florida, most homes have trim-less windows and marble window sills. Being a girl from Ohio, I really think windows without trim are kinda…blah.
Below is a crude sketch of the materials I would need for the project. So once again I get to go “skipping” into Lowe’s.
My BFF and “project manager” Mr. L helped me with this project. I have never seen a guy rip (cut the long ways) lumber with a circular saw so accurately as Mr. L can!
As you can see in this picture, we did not put aprons (wood under the window sills) on yet because we weren’t sure how the benches would fit.
Here are the before and after pictures of the windows! EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
SUPER excited about this.
Aren’t they GORGEOUS?!
Now I know that the pictures don’t show it, but we used paint grade lumber so they really wouldn’t look good stained. Paint-grade is usually cheaper than stain-grade because of the imperfections in the wood.
My painted window trim !
Isn’t it stunning?!
Once the walls were dry it was time to fit the benches and attach them to the wall. We had to cut a notch to fit under the window sill. Click here for the paint color I chose and see my inspiration for my breakfast nook makeover.
