Dealing With Decorating Anxiety

Part 1 Just Breathe

When it comes to decorating your home, are there things that you wish you would have changed a long time ago?  Do you feel stuck when it comes to making design changes in your home?  Maybe even a little overwhelmed with all the choices there are in the home décor industry?

I have heard these conversations time and time again from my friends and co-workers.  Feeling stuck in any subject is a horrible feeling!  I know whenever I am feeling stuck and I need help with all the “things” that render me so, I turn to Google and Pinterest and immediately go down “the rabbit hole” only to emerge with a new recipe and not the home décor problem I went in with. UGH! Sound familiar?

Hopefully, I can be the support that assists you in climbing out of that hole with the answers you were looking for!  Yay!

BREATHE, JUST BREATHE

Ahhh! Take a deep breath, relax your tongue from the roof of your mouth and drop your shoulders away from your ears.  There…feel better?

Be grateful for what you have.  Clean water, plentiful food and a roof over your head and maybe… a really ugly plaid sofa.

This step, although not design-oriented, is helpful when re-working a room.  Change is stressful and by removing/replacing one thing at a time, you can have a beautiful space in no time at all.  Plus, this is a far more cost-effective solution also. Win!

The easiest way to update your space without breaking the bank is to give it a thorough purging and deep cleaning.  A clean, uncluttered space always looks so much better and may be the only immediate thing you need to do.  It is a healthier environment to live in also.

Tomorrow we will be discussing Dealing with Decorating Anxiety part 2 – Planning Your Strategy.  We all want to live in a beautiful and safe home where you can relax and recharge from your day.  Until then,

Hi, I’m Danielle!

I am the designer, writer and diy’er behind this blog. I enjoy decorating my home for practically nothing by doing most of the work myself, finding new and imaginative ways to make it beautiful and by watching for killer sales. I find humor almost anywhere and can laugh at myself through it all. I have learned that most projects don’t go exactly as intended, but can be more beautiful than the original plan.
