how to make a garland using printables

Today I want to show you how to make a garland using printables.

Lately, I have been OBSESSED with printables! Especially if they are FREE! Yay!

There are so many of them on Pinterest right now.

Someday I hope to make my original watercolor paintings into printables for everyone to use!

what is a printable?

Do you know about printables?

They are anything suitable to be printed or published.

Also, you can print them from your computer, but I prefer using my phone for this.

Today, I am making a garland for spring and I found some beautiful Mason jar drawings with spring flowers that I will be using.

what are printables used for?

Printables are an excellent resource for crafting enthusiasts who seek to create unique, personalized paper crafts.

You can use printables to produce a wide range of items, from customized greeting cards to miniature items that are perfect for tiered trays.

Also, with printables, you have the freedom to express your creativity and bring your imagination to life!

how do I get the printable you used?

After you choose your printable, print it out on cardstock.

I chose this beauty from https://calicocollage.com/. There are so many to pick from on this site.

Just make sure to choose the “Freebie” option at the top of the page.

Also, you will want to use cardstock (it is stiffer than regular paper to hold up to the glue dot tape for a 3D effect).

Make sure you spray your printout with hairspray. The spray will set the ink and it will not run if it gets wet.

Cut out your printed design. I needed 10 pictures for this banner.

I chose to add a little dimension to my project by putting a piece of book page under my printed design.

A long time ago, I was gifted a box of old books that were falling apart.

I kept the pages in a 12” x 12” plastic bin used for scrapbook paper to keep the paper from becoming brittle.

Side note: When choosing printed pages from a book in your design, make sure it is free of bad words.

Yeah… I did that!🫨

Cut your book pages to the desired size and use hot glue to attach it to the burlap.

I love this Firbon paper cutter because for the life of me I cannot cut a straight line!

how do I get that 3D effect?

I wanted my Mason jar printables to have a little more “3D” effect so, I added Pop Dot tape to the underside of my Mason jar.

Glue Dot is sticky on both sides and adheres extremely well to paper. You basically only get one shot at putting it on correctly.

Peel off the back and center it on your book page (remember, you only get one shot).

I really like how the tape raises the Mason jar printable up from the book page giving it that 3D effect! Yay!

Use twine or ribbon to string your garland pieces together. Tie a loop on each end for hanging.

And here she is looking SO beautiful! A real showstopper in your home!

Hi, I’m Danielle!

I am the designer, writer and diy’er behind this blog. I enjoy decorating my home for practically nothing by doing most of the work myself, finding new and imaginative ways to make it beautiful and by watching for killer sales. I find humor almost anywhere and can laugh at myself through it all. I have learned that most projects don’t go exactly as intended, but can be more beautiful than the original plan.
