pedestal dishes for fancy feasts

one of my favorite little dishes

I have always loved elegant dishware.

My mom had a few pieces of pink depression glass, which I now own and bring out whenever we have guests.

She also had a beautiful crystal-footed candy dish with a matching lid that always made an appearance at Christmas.

Mom would fill it with her homemade chocolates and fudge.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what happened to that sweet little dish after Mom passed away.

Today, I want to show you my budget-friendly version of that fancy dish.

The glass and one metal piece you see below are all from the thrift store near my house. I chose items that I thought would complement each other beautifully.

All you need other than these pieces is the glue.

I used E6000 for most of it, but I bought Gorilla Glue in a clear formula for the metal-to-glass application.

It worked PERFECTLY! Win!

Trust me, the most challenging part of this whole project is deciding which top (bowl, plate) goes best with each pedestal!  Truth!

These are a few of my choices.

First up are the metal base (candlestick) from Goodwill and the beautiful plate with flowers engraved from DollarTree. They are so elegant that they only look expensive.

Total cost: $2.33

Next up is this modern version of the pedestal dish.

It is a plain clear glass bowl turned upside down and glued to a plain transparent glass dinner plate from Dollar Tree.

Wouldn’t it look great with a set of twinkle lights in the base?!

I am no good with the minimalist style.

I always want to add things like twinkle lights!  Ha!

Total cost: $2.50.

This next little dish would look amazing with homemade chocolates.

Everything in the entire world would look better with chocolate!  Ha!

Both pieces came from Goodwill.

I love the bright blue color on the candlestick base.

This would also look great for the Fourth of July.

Total Cost: $2.36

For the last dish, I glued a small cut crystal bowl from Goodwill to a small clear glass candlestick from the DollarTree.

Total Cost:  $2.53

this turned out so cute

There are so many variations to this project.

Choose one that suits your decorating style.

These also make great gifts!

I like to add these little beauties to my tablescapes for dinner parties.

However you decide to use these gorgeous pedestal dishes, I guarantee you will enjoy making them!

I hope you enjoyed how to make these pedestal dishes for fancy feasts

I am the designer, writer and diy’er behind this blog. I enjoy decorating my home for practically nothing by doing most of the work myself, finding new and imaginative ways to make it beautiful and by watching for killer sales. I find humor almost anywhere and can laugh at myself through it all. I have learned that most projects don’t go exactly as intended, but can be more beautiful than the original plan.
